As a first year associate, I remember the excitement at my law firm when it was announced that the firm would be counsel for the Goldman Sachs initial public offering. Throughout my years at the law firm, I don’t recall that much excitement around any other transaction. Looking back, I think I knew I would one day return to financial services, I did not imagine it would be at Goldman Sachs, but a person can dream!

I would offer the following advice to those considering a career in Global Compliance: Learn as much as you can about the businesses of the firm and how your clients define success. Ask a lot of questions, and be prepared to do what it takes to deliver an excellent work product every time.
