I would advise anyone considering a career in finance to know what you’re getting into. Some people in college romanticize the field of finance and assume it’s really easy to make large sums of money at a very young age. It’s hard work, though. Be honest with yourself about what division you would want to be in. There was a lot of pressure to pursue specific fields within finance when I was interviewing, and some people gave me a really hard time when I wanted to do something different. Ultimately, you’re only going to succeed at something that you truly enjoy, so figuring out what that is should be top priority.
