I was always inclined to pursue a career in finance, given the breadth of job opportunities that I thought would be available to me. I came across a position in research completely by accident as I was exploring various career options. What I liked most about the research position was the versatility of the job: understanding different companies and industries, being able to voice an opinion about a stock or a sector and always working on something new and different.
My advice to those who want to pursue a career in finance is to choose the best platform to operate from. What I value most about Goldman is the quality of the people, the reputation of the firm and the willingness of the firm to find the right place for its people. There are very few of us who know exactly what we want to do when we graduate from college, but what many of us ultimately want to find is a place that allows us to evolve and find ourselves. That is a place I would encourage everyone to find.
