I came to Goldman Sachs as an experienced hire. I attended a networking event, where I met people from the firm who thought I would be a good fit for the role I am currently in. At the time, I wasn’t really looking to switch jobs. As a matter of fact, when I got the job offer from Goldman Sachs, I was beginning a self-imposed sabbatical year which I had intended to partially spend traveling around the world. The opportunity to work here was too good to pass up, and I only made it to Portugal and India ... Although I hope to one day finish my journey!

The first thing I remember thinking when I started here was that the Goldman Sachs culture is not a myth. It’s as strong and interesting as people said it would be. Since I was always engaged in advancing the cause of minorities and women since my early college years in Brazil, it was a great plus to find out that Goldman Sachs has many opportunities to help these causes through the firm’s Global Leadership & Diversity programs. Today I am a senior adviser to two employee diversity networks, the Firmwide Hispanic/Latino Network and the Women's Network for Legal, Compliance and MCD. I have been able to contribute to numerous types of programs including recruiting, leadership training activities, mentoring and speaking at career events.
