I am currently working with a middle-market insurance brokerage company, where I was on the acquisition team and now serve as a board member. The most interesting aspect of the assignment has been developing a company strategy along with management.
The most challenging part of this job is prioritizing the tasks that must be accomplished. In any given day, I am working on several deals, each with numerous issues. There are often more things to do in the day than time available, and you have to learn to manage your time effectively. My role at Goldman has forced me to become very efficient and disciplined with my time.
The most rewarding part of my job is the people with whom I work. I am surrounded by smart people whom I truly respect, and I learn from them constantly. I have collaborated with many highly intelligent and educated people in the past, but I have never participated in a culture as “flat” as Goldman Sachs that allows you to work so closely with all members of the deal team.
I aspire to be a leader, both at Goldman Sachs and in my volunteer and philanthropic endeavors. I believe that good leaders must be good learners. Goldman provides an optimal environment in which to gain knowledge from some of the most accomplished professionals in our field. I have learned something new every day that I have worked at Goldman Sachs.
