Tobias

I work in the Securities division, as part of the Institutional Pan-European Shares Sales team in Frankfurt. I market Goldman Sachs research to the portfolio managers and researchers of German mutual funds. My main responsibility is to study the European equity markets and the firm’s view on them, so that I can have knowledgeable discussions with our clients.

The most interesting aspect of my job is taking the pulse of the market. It’s great to have an inside view of how and why the market moves in a particular way. Also, I find it very interesting to learn about all the different companies and their sectors, sometimes directly from their top management! I also like the fact that one is assigned one’s own clients at an early stage – with all the responsibility that brings.

My work is very dependent on team effort because one salesperson cannot cover all clients. Our team extends beyond the borders of the sales force: For example, research analysts are also viewed as team members. Without this close cooperation it would not be possible to satisfy our clients’ needs.
