I work in Credit Sales in the Fixed Income, Currency and Commodities (FICC) division of Securities. My team is responsible for covering banks in the UK & Ireland.

One of the most interesting aspects of my role is the uncertainty that comes with working in the markets. Working on the trading floor means you’re right in the middle of the action as news hits the tapes. You have to be prepared to act. My role is also very entrepreneurial, and a large part of it involves working with the trading and research desks to generate trade ideas to match my clients’ needs. You also get to interact with people at a really senior level. I speak with people who have been in the industry for over 15 years – and they want to hear my opinion on the market.

I work on a team of eight people; each of us has primary responsibility for a number of different clients. We share ideas and information across the team, and there is much sales coverage overlap to ensure that clients receive seamless coverage.
